The Perfect Long Weekend Adventure

This trip is all about: rafting the Colorado River, wild camping under the stars, red rock canyons, stories by the fire, and unforgettable adventures with new friends.

Pack your bags for Moab, Utah—a vibrant desert town surrounded by red rock canyons, epic views, and endless adventure. This is the gateway to Arches National Park and the legendary Colorado River, and it’s where our unforgettable long weekend begins.

Over 4 days, we’ll raft down the iconic Colorado River -through stunning canyons, swim in calm stretches of the river, kayak and paddle board in crystal-clear waters, and ride the fun (but beginner-friendly) rapids that make this trip exciting without being too technical.

In between, we’ll camp under the desert stars, share stories around the fire, and enjoy chef-prepared meals—yup, we’ve hired a private chef just for our group to create elevated and delicious meals for us the entire time we’re on the river.

This trip is perfect for all levels—especially beginners.

You don’t need rafting experience to join us, just a sense of adventure.

The river gives us the best of both worlds: stretches of calm water for relaxing and swimming, plus playful Class II–IIII rapids to keep things fun & lively.

For those who want a little extra, there will be optional hikes from camp to explore the desert landscape. But don’t worry—this isn’t a hiking-heavy trip. You can choose to trek out with the group or kick back at camp with new friends and soak in the views.

With our expert local guides leading the way, plus a full support team and private chef, every detail is handled so you can focus on what matters most: adventure, connection, and an epic weekend you’ll never forget.

Day 1

Welcome to Moab

Welcome to Moab—the lively little desert town known as the gateway to Arches National Park and home to some of the most breathtaking red rock landscapes in the world. With its adventurous spirit, funky local shops, and epic scenery in every direction, Moab is the perfect place to kick off our long weekend together.

We’ll meet at our downtown- group hotel (location details shared once you sign up), where our guides will walk us through orientation and get us ready for the adventure ahead.

That evening, we’ll gather for our signature Travsessed welcome dinner—a delicious feast where we’ll raise a glass, share stories, and get to know each other. By the end of the night, the ice will be broken, the excitement will be high, and the group will already feel like friends.

MEALS INCLUDED: Welcome dinner with drinks

Day 2

Let The River Adventure Begin

Today we kick off our rafting adventure! We’ll get an early start, watching the dramatic desert scenery unfold on our drive to the put-in at the Loma Boat Ramp, just across the Colorado border.

Once we arrive, our expert guides will give us a safety talk and orientation to our boats and gear, then it’s time to hit the water. We’ll start with the serene waters of Ruby Horsethief Canyon, surrounded by towering red canyon walls and breathtaking desert landscapes. This calm stretch is perfect for trying out an inflatable kayak or stand-up paddleboard—or just relaxing and taking in the scenery.

Midday, we’ll pull over to enjoy a delicious lunch right on the riverbank, with plenty of time to relax, take in the incredible scenery, and soak up the desert vibes before we continue downstream.

We’ll also have the chance to take short, optional hikes to hidden gems like the Natural Arches in Entrada Sandstone or the breathtaking Mee Canyon in Black Ridge Canyons Wilderness.

When we arrive at camp, the magic continues—our private chef will be cooking up an incredible meal for us to enjoy under the stars. After a day of adventure, nothing beats gathering around the fire with new friends, sharing stories, and soaking in the desert night sky.

MEALS INCLUDED: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
DRIVE: About 2 hours from Moab to the boat launch

Day 3

Canyon Magic and Riverside Feasts

After a hearty breakfast, we’ll load up the boats and continue our journey downriver. The morning brings stretches of calm water, much like Ruby Horsethief, with a few playful Class II rapids sprinkled in to give us a taste of the bigger whitewater waiting on our final day.

We’ll pause midday for a chef-prepared riverside lunch, the perfect chance to kick back, soak in the canyon views, swim in the calm waters, or stretch out in the sun.

By afternoon, we’ll pull into camp where the adventure slows down and the relaxation kicks in. Our chef and guides will serve up hors d’oeuvres and a delicious dinner while you settle into your tent. Spend the evening exploring the campsite, playing games, swapping stories with your new travel friends, or simply gazing up at the star-filled desert sky from the heart of the canyon.

MEALS INCLUDED:  Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4

Rapids, Reflections & Farewell

We’ll rise early to the smell of hot coffee and a hearty breakfast prepared by our private chef. This quiet morning is the perfect chance to watch the sunrise paint the canyon walls as we fuel up for our final day on the river.

After breaking down camp, it’s time for the main event: Westwater’s famous rapids! Hold on tight as we tackle Little Dolores, Funnel Falls, Skull Rapid, and Sock-It-To-Me—an adrenaline-filled finale to our rafting adventure.

Once the rapids settle, we’ll enjoy a delicious riverside lunch, with time to swim or explore the canyon one last time before heading downstream. In the afternoon, we’ll reach Cisco Landing, where our Utah/Colorado river journey comes to an end.

Back in Moab, we’ll check into our hotel and refresh with a hot shower. Then we’ll head to a super fun food truck park with tons of options—so you can choose your own dinner adventure. The first round is on us as we gather back at our group table to celebrate and toast to an amazing trip!

Day 5

Farewell for Now

After one last breakfast together at the hotel, it’s time to say our goodbyes—for now. We’ll part ways with full hearts, new friendships, and unforgettable memories from our time on the river.

This isn’t goodbye, just see you on the next adventure.

This Utah rafting adventure is the perfect mix of adventure, connection, and relaxation. From red rock canyons and exciting rapids to starlit nights and chef-prepared meals, every detail has been crafted to give you an unforgettable long weekend. You’ll head home with new friends, incredible memories, and stories you’ll be telling for years to come

FAQs

How Do I Get to Moab?

Moab has a small regional airport, Canyonlands Field (CNY), just 20 minutes from town. It offers limited daily flights, usually connecting through Denver or Salt Lake City.

Flying Direct from Denver

Contour Airlines offers nonstop flights from Denver International (DEN) to Canyonlands Field (CNY), Moab’s local airport. There’s usually one flight per day, making this the quickest and easiest way to get straight into the adventure.

Most travelers find it easier to fly into either Grand Junction, CO (GJT)—about a 2-hour drive or they offer a shuttle to Moab or Salt Lake City (SLC)—about a 4-hour drive—and then rent a car or take a shuttle to Moab.

Either way, the drive into Moab is stunning and part of the adventure!

Once you sign up, we’ll help you figure out the best way to get there—whether that’s carpooling with other guests, booking a shuttle, or renting a car.

Where is Moab?

Moab is a small desert town in southeastern Utah, famous for its red rock landscapes, outdoor adventures, and as the gateway to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. It’s about a 4-hour drive from Salt Lake City and 6 hours from Denver.

How many miles will we be paddling each day?

The full section of the Colorado River we’ll be rafting is about 41 miles over 3 days. The exact number of miles we’ll cover each day depends on which campsites we’re assigned along the route. Once we receive our permits and know our group’s campsites, we’ll share a detailed breakdown—but you can expect a mix of mellow floats, exciting rapids, and plenty of time to relax at camp each night

Are there showers on the river?

Nope—this is a true wilderness adventure! Once we launch, there aren’t any traditional facilities or showers. But don’t worry—you can rinse off and cool down with a refreshing dip in the Colorado River (the best natural bath there is). Once we return to Moab at the end of the trip, you’ll have a hot shower waiting for you back at the hotel before our farewell dinner.

What is the bathroom situation?

Outfitters follow Leave No Trace practices, which means we’ll have a portable camp toilet set up at each campsite in a private location. It’s clean, eco-friendly, and way more comfortable than you might think!

what is the sleeping situation?

We’ll be camping along the river each night in tents. Each tent sleeps 2 people, but if you’d like your own private tent, just let us know and we’ll arrange it. With the guidance of our amazing river crew, we’ll all set up our own tents each night—it’s a fun, team-style way to contribute and settle into camp life together. By evening, you’ll be cozied up under the desert stars, with the sounds of the river as your soundtrack

is all the camping gear provided?

Yes! Tents, sleeping mats, pillows, and sleeping bags are all included.

what is the food situation?

We’ve hired a private chef just for our group 🙌. That means elevated, delicious meals prepared for us the entire time we’re on the river—plus hearty breakfasts, riverside lunches, and hors d’oeuvres at camp. Picture gourmet meals under the stars… this isn’t your average camping food. Food restrictions can be accommodated—just let us know ahead of time so we can plan accordingly.

is there alcohol?

Alcohol is BYOB. The guides will safely pack and carry any alcohol you bring, and you’re welcome to enjoy it at camp (plastic or cans only, no glass). Nothing beats sipping a cold drink by the fire after a day on the river!

do i need rafting experience?

Not at all! This trip is perfect for beginners as well as those with some rafting under their belt. Our guides will teach you everything you need to know, and the Colorado River through Westwater Canyon offers a fun mix of calm waters for relaxing and Class II–IIII rapids for just the right amount of excitement.

how active do i need to be for this trip?

This is an active adventure, which means you’ll be moving your body every day. We’ll be rafting, walking, and doing some light hiking throughout the trip. That said, this is a great mix of active and chill—we won’t be tackling strenuous hikes, and most hikes are optional once we’re at camp.

You don’t need to be an athlete to join us, just come with an open mind, a positive attitude, and the expectation that you’ll be active each day. Think paddling rapids, exploring short trails, and carrying your gear in and out of camp—with plenty of time to relax by the fire or float in the river in between.

How difficult is the paddling??

This trip is designed to be beginner-friendly—no prior rafting experience required. The Colorado River through Westwater Canyon gives us the best of both worlds: calm stretches where you can relax, swim, or try a paddleboard, and fun Class II–IIII rapids that bring just the right amount of adventure without being overly technical or intimidating. Our expert guides will teach you everything you need to know and will be with us every step of the way.

All payments are non-refundable. If the trip must be postponed or cancelled due to events beyond our control, you will be offered the choice between a full refund and applying your payments to a future trip.

The reason payments are non-refundable is that we start incurring costs from the moment someone signs up — from credit card fees to our local vendors & organizers coordinating and booking everything on the ground for our group and beyond.
